Matt was born in Atlanta and grew up in Marietta, Georgia with two older brothers and his parents, John and Rita, who are about to celebrate their 50th wedding anniversary. After high school, Matt attended Auburn University where he earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration (Aviation Management Flight Education). In January of 2002, Matt was hired at Atlantic Southeast Airlines in Atlanta where he served as a Captain and Chief Pilot with the airline. In May of 2016, Matt reached the pinnacle of his aviation career when he was hired by Delta Air Lines. He is currently a First Officer on the Boeing 757/767 and based in his hometown of Atlanta.
Influenced by his father, Matt has always been fascinated with fishing. He first learned how to fish on Lake Hartwell at a very young age. Matt grew up fishing everything from neighborhood ponds and creeks to big bodies of water. His family kept a boat on Lake Lanier allowing him to gain knowledge and experience in bass fishing. In January 2007, Matt decided to take bass angling to the next level and he joined the American Bass Anglers tournament trail. Today, Matt competes on the Bass Pro Shops American Fishing Tour and the Bass Pro Shops Open Series. In his first full season on the Tour, Matt had five top ten finishes, a solid finish in the Southeast Region Championship and qualified for the National Championship. In the National Championship Matt finished in the Top 25.
Matt currently lives in Powder Springs, Georgia and is supported by his wonderful family. He has an amazing wife named Jenny and three beautiful daughters named Addison, Mia, and Alexis.
Matt is dedicated to the sport of bass fishing and has a passion for learning innovative techniques, using the latest tackle and fishing new waters.
